
CAS, or Creativity, Activity, Service, is a crucial element of the IB curriculum, aiming to boost students overall growth. The diploma program prioritizes creativity, physical activity, and community service.
The CAS framework includes a structured progression involving a CAS project and a reflective component. Crafting a compelling CAS project idea can be a challenge for many students, and this article aims to help by presenting 60 ideas—20 for each component. These past CAS ideas can serve as inspiration to foster creativity.
I will split it into 3 segments; Creativity, Activity, and Service.
Creativity
- Create an artistic mural on a wall
- Start an After-School club for younger students (i.e. Macramè club, Jazz music club)
- Form a Model United Nations club (if your school doesnt have one already)
- Set up unique school competitions (i.e. Esports competitions, Cooking competition)
- Conduct an international cultural expression event
- Partake in a community fashion show, and sustainably source materials
- Conduct a community musical or play- this can be within the school or local district
- Hold a street photography contest for students of your cohort
- Conduct an International culinary arts food festival, share & experience different cultural foods
- Conduct a multilingual club, teach students basic levels of different languages
- Partake in an art exhibit and showcase your works of art
- Conduct a musical showcase with your peers
- Take part in a music recital
- Pick up a new instrument (it can be an easy one i.e. the ukulele)
- Conduct pottery making classes within your school
- Take part in culinary arts classes
- Join a creative writing club
- Organize a theatrical performance where all proceeds go to charity
- Produce a socially provoking documentary or short film
- Write articles for us!
Activity
- Volunteer at a soup kitchen- dedicate a couple of hours every now and then
- Volunteer at local homeless shelters & donate goods
- Host a second-hand book drive
- Distribute hygienic necessities to local shelters (i.e. soap, toothpaste, sanitary napkins)
- Conduct tutoring for younger students
- Conduct a first aid campaign
- Host a blood drive in your neighborhood
- Conduct recycling drives, sort out the recycling in your district
- Distribute second-hand educational books to children who dont have access to quality education
- During the holiday season, conduct a toy drive to donate toys to children in need
- Conduct a sports camp for the underprivileged youth, teach them different kinds of sports
- Conduct a beach-clean up at your nearest beach
- Help execute a small-scale infrastructure project (i.e. building a local playground)
- Do some district gardening
- Plant trees in a highly polluted region in your district
- Volunteer at an elderly home/senior center, offer them companionship
- Organize an adoption event, partner with a local animal shelter
- Conduct an E-waste collection drive in your neighborhood
- Volunteer at a mental hospital, offer them assistance
- Clean heavily littered places in your district/community
Service
- Organize and participate in a sports team (this can include your school sports team)
- Conduct an after-school sports club for younger students
- Volunteer as an assistant coach for a school sports team
- Form a yoga group and conduct sessions in nursing homes
- Volunteer to help out as a lifeguard
- Go on a cycling excursion (i.e. cycle 50-100 kms)
- Conduct gym classes for your district community
- Plan and execute a school sports tournament
- Plan a hiking excursion with your peers
- Start a health club in your school, conduct activities that promote healthy lifestyles
- Teach younger grades a traditional dance form
- Conduct workshops on mental health awareness in your school
- Participate in sports competitions
- Conduct a dance competition and donate all proceeds to charity
- Conduct a swim meet
- Go on an environmental trek (trek for 15-20 kms)
- Run a marathon
- Complete a triathlon
- Conduct a mixed martial arts class within your school
- Conduct a self-defense workshop for women in your district
